1949 – 1950 Oil on canvas 83 x 56 cm Murch Estate
Murch wrote in 1975: “The Fisherman’s Daughter” – progression of colour. No great range of colour, but orange yellow and red in the shade. The texture was very dense, through painting over and over, and it developed fungus. I saw that there was no mildew in my workshop and formed the impression that diluted engine oil would arrest the fungus – this proved correct.
